Spanish Navy orders Rodman Polyships two auxiliary ships for the Naval Academy in Marín

Just a few days ago, Spanish Ministry of Defence launched a tender for the acquisition of a sailboat for the school.

Spanish Navy's Logistics Support Command has just awarded the contract for two auxiliary vessels for the Naval Military School Naval Training Corps in Marín to Rodman Polyships, for a total bid of €1.8 million. The contract period is three years, as stated on the Public Sector Procurement Platform.

The vessels will be used for personnel transport, perimeter surveillance, support for diving and pilotage activities, among other tasks.

According to the technical specifications, the vessels will have a service life of over 25 years and a range of over 200 nautical miles. Starting from afloat, refuelled, and with all systems shut down, the vessel will be able to set sail in less than 10 minutes. Furthermore, it will be able to transport at least 16 passengers, along with two crew members, quickly and safely. The length will not exceed 13 meters, with a closed, cabin-style bridge featuring a watertight door and an unobstructed 360º view.

Regarding navigation and communications equipment, it will be equipped with navigation radar, a depth sounder, a magnetic compass, a positioning system, electronic nautical charts, a wind and pressure sensor, fixed and portable VHF radio equipment, an emergency beacon, a signal horn, a loudspeaker for maritime mobile service, and a megaphone with a loudspeaker on the bridge.

Just a few days ago, Spanish Ministry of Defence launched a tender for the acquisition of a high-performance sailboat for instruction and training for the Naval Military Academy, with a budget of just over one million euros.

The sailboat will be used to enhance nautical and maritime training, as well as the instruction of its personnel, especially its future officers. It will also serve to promote sailing within the institution.
